The Australian Curriculum is the foundation on which the learning program is based. In addition to online lessons, the students are required to complete set tasks on a weekly basis. Regular assessments are part of the teaching/ learning cycle and are designed to monitor student progress, which in turn is used to inform the teaching program. Japanese is offered to R-6 students.
After the enrolment process has been completed, your child’s teacher will contact you to discuss the learning program and any support programs if applicable.
Lessons are taught online. Students are required to participate in all scheduled lessons and all additional activities. The teacher will provide the information that students will need to access the online environment and the learning resources. Students studying a language will have one weekly online lesson with their language teacher plus learning tasks.
To support a successful learning program, students will need to be supervised through their daily tasks by a designated adult. If there are any questions, students/supervisors are encouraged to contact the class teacher for support.
Students are required to return completed work weekly. This may consist of a combination of DayMap or Google Classroom uploads, as negotiated with the teacher. Teachers use these regular work returns to provide helpful feedback on the student’s learning and to assess and report on student progress. A range of assessment tools are used for students to provide evidence of their learning.
Feedback on student’s learning can also be accessed via DayMap. In addition to ongoing feedback and reporting, Daymap includes information about student attendance. All families are issued with a DayMap login.
Students are encouraged to take part in face-to-face activities offered by each campus. These activities may include teacher/itinerant teacher home visits, school experience weeks, camps, host school days, ‘Come In Day’, excursions and visits to the College.
