Photography and media consent information

We may take photos at events and publish them

At some face to face events there may be a staff member taking photos that may be used in the college newsletter, on the website, on our Facebook page or printed publications/marketing material.

At these events, students who have returned a media consent form at enrolment will be issued with a name tag, that identifies them as having given consent for these photos to be used. Our photographer will only take photos of those students.

  • You can check whether we have a current media consent form on file by checking the Daymap Parent Portal for that student under the Records tab (please see Helpsheet for using Daymap features on this page)
  • If you return a media consent form for this event, it will be uploaded to the student file and be valid for the rest of the school year.

We would prefer you do not take photos

If you are a parent or guardian and you choose to take photos at events, you must take care to not include other students in your photos, only your own child/ren.

The Department for Education requires that to protect the interests of students and other children, personal or private information must not be included on any publicly available webpage or printed publication. You may not distribute photos of students without permission.

Photos taken by Open Access College staff have been checked for consent before being included in our college newsletter and Facebook page after the event. If you wish to obtain a copy of a higher resolution photo that has been included in our publications, we may be able to provide this as long as the photo does not contain any other students or children than those who you are responsible for, or if the other students in the photo have given separate consent for the photo to be released to you.

Thank you for respecting the privacy of all our students and their families.
