National Children’s Day 2024: Strong in Culture, Stronger Together

Childrens Day 4 Augu

Sunday 4 August 2024

The 2024 theme for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day, "Strong in Culture, Stronger Together," highlights the power and resilience our children derive from their connection to culture and mob.

This year, we proudly stand with our First Nations families and their children, celebrating their culture, stories, kin, and community—everything that makes them unique, resilient, and future leaders. The theme hopes to empower children, instilling pride in who they are and where they come from, and emphasising that their culture is one of their most valuable and important assets. When children are strong in culture, they are strong in identity, which is vital for future generations.

National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day, observed annually on August 4th since 1988, is dedicated to celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. This day provides an opportunity for all Australians to show their support and to learn about the significant roles that culture, family, and community play in their lives.

Organized by SNAICC – National Voice for our Children, these events invite the wider community to participate in diverse and vibrant celebrations across the country.
