Marden Education Centre Library
All the best to the students as you are completing work for the term and year. The library team is also gearing up for the end of year. We are looking forward to getting your resources back as you finish your lessons/exams! Letters will be sent to everyone who still has resources out with a list of the items. Please return them as soon as you can or before 13 December.
Premier’s Reading Challenge and Premier's Be Active Challenge
Congratulations to the students who completed the Challenges in 2019. When the certificates and medals are received we will be acknowledging the recipients at various events and sending them out to students.
Read for the Record
OAC were one of 20 schools in the state chosen by the Uni SA chapter of the Golden Key International Honour Society to participate in Read for the Record. We shared the story “Thank you, Omu” by Oge Mora. The book tells the story of a generous elderly woman who made a fantastic pot of stew. We also participated in activities around the story focussing on honouring diversity, appreciation and generosity. Read for the Record is an international event and we were very pleased to join with everyone around the world sharing the same story.
Storytime on Monday and Book Chat on Thursday
Storytime and Book Chat will continue during Term 4 while classes are still happening. Students in R-6 classes are welcome to join in the Library Storytime event each Monday at 1.30pm on WebEx. Students in Year 4-7 classes are welcome to join in the Library Book Chat event each Thursday at 2.15pm on WebEx. We look forward to meeting up and sharing stories and showing off new resources available from the library.
Library Displays and other Activities
October was International School Library Month so of course, this was an opportunity to celebrate the wonderful things that happen in our school library. One of the boards was used for a display and we also read stories and organised activities for lessons and other sessions. For Remembrance Day on Monday 11 November we had a display of books, information and poppies. Photos of our displays and other library events are up on the @mardenlibrary Twitter account and will soon be up on Instagram too.
We are looking forward to catching up with you during the term, eg as you come to re-enrol, at workshops, award ceremonies and at end of year events.
