Marden Education Centre Library
National Simultaneous Storytime
On Wednesday 22 May over 140 students, staff, siblings and others joined in with the 1,085,587 people around Australia for National Simultaneous Storytime. We shared the story “Alpacas with Maracas” by Matt Cosgrove and enjoyed other activities as part of the event. Students are also entering in the competitions too. The 3 options are to:
1. Make a model of an alpaca
2. Design a set of maracas or
3. Write a rhyming story or poem with an alpaca (or two) included.
Entries have already been sent in. All entries are due by Friday 7 June and can be sent as photos to library@openaccess.edu.au
Winners will be announced after the long weekend and prizes sent out.
Displays and other activities happening in the library
Photos of our displays and other library events are up on the @mardenlibrary Twitter account. Recent displays have highlighted National Reconciliation Week and Library and Information Week.
We are currently organising a display to celebrate the 50th birthday of the much loved picture book “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle.
Premier's Reading Challenge
Winter has arrived and it feels like the perfect time to curl up with a good book! And, those books you read can all be counted for the Premier’s Reading Challenge. Please contact the library if you would like books sent out to read for the challenge.
The PRC form for your year level can be downloaded from the Library page on the OAC website Go To Library Website
Completed forms need to be returned to the library by September.
Read Plus
Have you used Read Plus? Read Plus is a collection of selected books and films arranged under themes. It is a great resource to try to find out about some new books to read. And, of course, you can add the books you read to your PRC form too! You can access Read Plus from the Library Page on the OAC website a Go to Library Website
You will need to log on with the user name marden and the password library. The newest books to be reviewed are on the front page and at the top of the page you can click on Search and try other options too.
