Celebrating Success: Award-Winning Creativity from Year 6 Student

Congratulations to Young Welder George on Winning the Youth Category at Brighton Jetty Sculpture Exhibition!

A huge congratulations to 10-year-old George, a talented Year 6 student from our school, who recently won first place in the Youth Category (10-17 years) in the 2025 Brighton Jetty Sculpture Exhibition.

Living on a remote cattle station in South Australia, George has transformed discarded farm parts into an award-winning sculpture. Under the guidance of his father, he developed a passion for welding and repurposing scrap metal into art, showcasing his remarkable creativity and skill. His incredible work was recognised alongside other outstanding artists at South Australia’s largest sculpture exhibition, held at Brighton Jetty in February.

He was also awarded the People’s Choice Award for a different creation in the 2024 Solar and Sun Exhibition held at the Arid Lands, Port Augusta.

His work has been celebrated across the wider community, with local news outlets highlighting his ingenuity and craftsmanship. Read more about George’s inspiring journey in this ABC article.

We are incredibly proud of George and can't wait to see what he creates next! Well done, George!
