Who is this course for?

Students interested in learning Computer Aided Design (CAD) to design and 3D Print functional and decorative products.

What will I learn?

There are two aspects to this semester:

  • Computer Aided Design (CAD)
  • 3D Printing

You will learn skills in CAD through the 3D modelling software package; Autodesk Fusion360. You will produce three-dimensional models of your design ideas.

Autodesk Fusion360 is easy to learn, simple to use and fun to model with. You will learn through a series of practical tutorials and independent research to develop CAD skills to design creative and sustainable 3D printed products.

You will learn how to process your CAD models, preparing them for 3D printing. After submitting your work the teacher will 3D print your models and post them to you.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment will be based on the Australian Curriculum, Design & Technologies Achievement Standard.

Students will be assessed through:

  • Evidence of practical skill development in Autodesk Fusion360
  • A folio evidencing the design process for a major 3D printed product
  • Completed CAD models and 3D printed products
  • Analysis of materials used in CAD and 3D Printing
