Who is this course for?

This course is suited to students who have interest in Computer Aided Design, Home renovation, Interior design, or Architecture. The Architecture course can lead to future career pathways in Construction Design, including Architecture, Construction Drafting, and Industrial Design.

What will I learn?

Students will develop knowledge and skills in Computer Aided Design using the construction industry-standard software Autodesk Revit to produce domestic architectural drawings and photo-realistic renderings of their models. Students start by learning the basic operations of Autodesk Revit to build a house model and produce technical Architectural drawings. Throughout the course, students learn about concepts such as Architectural style, building material properties, construction foundations and how house construction can be made more sustainable. As their skills and understanding develop students have the opportunity to apply skills with increasing creativity. All skills learned are then applied to design and model a house appropriate for a real-world location.

Assesement Type 1: Specialised Skills Tasks 20%

  • Architectural Concept plans
  • Architectural Rendering

Assessment Type 2: Design Process and Solution 50%

  • Plan, design and model a house and produce architectural concept plans

Assessment Type 3: Resource Study 30%

  • Sustainable Architecture and construction materials analysis and report
