Who is this course for?

Students who wish to develop their knowledge about the nature, purpose and uses of financial information in business. This involves the preparation of financial reports, analysis, interpretation of results and financial decision making. These skills have both vocational and personal applications. No background knowledge is assumed.

What will I learn?

The course is divided into three sections:

  • Understanding Accounting Concepts and Conventions
  • Managing Financial Stability
  • Providing Accounting Advice

Within each of the above topics there will be a focus on Financial Literacy, Stakeholder Information and Decision-making and Innovation.

How will I be assessed?

You will demonstrate evidence of your learning through the following assessment types:

School Assessment 70%

  • Assessment Type 1: Accounting Concepts and Solutions (40%)
  • Assessment Type 2: Accounting Advice (30%)

External 30%

  • Assessment Type 3: Examination (30%)

Evidence of learning is provided through six assessment tasks including the external examination.
