Middle Years (7-9)

Students in the Middle Years are provided with learning that is relevant, purposeful and connected.

The essential elements of the Middle Years program are:

  • starting from the students' prior knowledge
  • learning to learn, learning to think
  • a focus on the relationship between students and teachers

  • a collaborative approach between students and teachers

  • authentic assessment, product orientated learning, exhibitions of learning, real life contexts

Students undertake Progressive Assessment Tests (PAT) in Term 3.

Each class stays together for the core subjects, of Science, English, History, Health and Care Group.

There are 11 scheduled lessons a week for the core.

In addition to the core subjects students will also develop specialised skills in one or more of the following specialist subjects:

  • Languages
  • The Arts
  • Technologies
  • Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS)
