National Simultaneous Storytime 2017
On 24 May we joined with 686,324 people across 6129 sites all over Australia reading the same book at the same time. The book we all read this year was “The cow tripped over the moon” written by Tony Wilson and illustrated by Laura Wood. There were activities to go with the book on the day as well as a competition.
Congratulations to Corey H, Blayne W, Glacia K, Charlotte D, Stella F, Abby S, Emily M, and James M who were the prize winners for the competition.
Premier’s Reading Challenge.
Students at all year levels from Reception to Year 12 can participate in the Premiers Reading Challenge. To complete the Challenge students need to read 12 books and add the books they have read to the form. Completed forms need to be returned to the library by the beginning of September. Certificates and medals will be sent to students in term 4. If students have participated at other schools or had a break of time in between the Challenge they will still continue to progress through the levels – the system keeps track of it all! Please contact the library if you need us to send a form.
Library Assembly for R-6 students.
Library Assembly happens each Wednesday afternoon at 1.30pm in term time on WebEx. R-6 Students from both the Marden and SOTA campuses are welcome to get involved and join in the storytelling and activities loosely organised around a weekly theme, eg, learning how to juggle, Archimedes principle, Museum Day and National hole in my bucket day!
As well as magazines the library has an extensive range of resources you can access either via the website or we can send them out to you, including books, DVDs, and audio books. Resources are available online too via the Library link on the OAC website. By clicking on the Library link you can access the library catalogue, and a range of other sites including databases and online magazines from Flipster. Keep an eye on the website as changes to make the resources a little easier to find and use are coming soon. Library staff are available to assist students and parent/supervisors either by email, phone, an instant WebEx session or in person.
We know there are a variety of events happening and students are coming in to Marden. When you are here please visit us in the library and meet the staff and check out the resources. If you would like to organise resources or become involved in one of the library events, please contact us. Our phone numbers are (08) 8309 3620 or (08) 8366 2822 or use the 1800 882 328 number and ask for the library. You can also email [email protected] and follow us on Twitter @mardenlibrary
