Library News Issue 5

Reading Challenge forms required by 1 September.

The Premier’s Reading Challenge is finishing for 2017. Completed forms need to be returned to the library by the beginning of September. Certificates and medals will be sent to students in term 4. If students have participated at other schools or had a break of time in between the Challenge they will still continue to progress through the levels – the system keeps track of it all! Please contact the library if you need us to send a form or you have other queries about the PRC. We are looking forward to having a record number of students complete the Challenge in 2017.

Reading Hour

The Australian Reading Hour is happening on Thursday 14 September. Everyone is encouraged to find an hour in that day to pick up a book and read it – to yourself, your students, children …

Library Services

We know term 3 is a busy term for students. Please contact the library for any assistance in finding and or using the range of resources we have available. Many resources are available online via the Library link on the OAC website. By clicking on the Library link you can access the library catalogue, and a range of other sites including databases and online magazines from Flipster. Library staff are available to support students and parent/supervisors either by email, phone, an instant WebEx session or in person. Please let us know how we can assist you.

Library Assembly for R-6 students

Library Assembly happens each Wednesday afternoon at 1.30pm in term time on WebEx. R-6 Students from both the Marden and SOTA campuses are welcome to get involved and join in the storytelling and activities. Reminders are sent via email with the link but please check with the library or your teacher if you aren’t receiving a reminder.

Library staff are also online for daily SOTA Assemblies and the Monday afternoon Primary Assembly. These are other opportunities to find out more about happenings in the library and request books and other resources to be sent out.

We know there are a variety of events happening and students are coming in to Marden. When you are here please visit us in the library and meet the staff and check out the resources. We also have changing displays and activities to try.

If you would like to organise resources or become involved in one of the library events, please contact us. Our phone numbers are (08) 8309 3620 or (08) 8366 2822 or use the 1800 882 328 number and ask for the library. You can also email [email protected] and follow us on Twitter @mardenlibrary
