Open Access College held a Languages Day Out, in which students helped the school mark 25 Years by celebrating diversity in languages and culture.
Over 300 students immersed themselves in activities from five cultures. The event began with a Lion Dance performed by Elizabeth East students, and a Latino dance and percussion workshop.
Students then participated in activities ranging from Indonesian kite and batik making, Japanese 3-D origami, Chinese calligraphy, Spanish Aztec art and a French food tour.
Lunch from across the cultures made the day a gastronomic delight with baguettes, paella, cold rolls, sushi, dumplings, and the big hit of the day, Japanese shaved, flavoured ice.
Students from 5 of our 55 Language Partnership Program schools attended; Elizabeth East, Mount Pleasant, Lobethal, Kilkenny and Seaton Park. Our Open Access College students also attended.
Students put a lot of effort and creativity into dressing up to reflect a language/culture on the day. Thank you to all that helped celebrate!
